Kerala Quizzing History
This page is meant to serve as a museum of sorts , dedicated to the glorious annals of Kerala Quizzing. We request all visitors to provide valuable information about the prominent quizzers/teams of each era. Any anecdotes about teams or evidences of their domination would be most welcome! More information on individual quizzers can be found in the profiles section. Kindly leave the information/corrections in the comments section of this post(preferably with your contact information so that we can get clarifications where needed) or drop a mail to greycells.kerala@gmail.com . All additional information will be added to the blog. We request everyone to be part of this effort to the chronicle the history of Kerala Quizzing.

myself dr.binu raju george working as ENT specialist in Ministry of Health,Salalah, Oman.calicut medical college alumnus.along with srinivas mathur fought against many formidable opponents in calicut for around 5 yrs, including p.c sarath chandran-our guru, c.k suresh,krishnakishore from devagiri,praveen from guruvayoorappan ,anil raghavan too and fared not too badly either.trying to shake the dust off my quizzing skills by participating in the annual times of oman quiz here
Binu - great to hear from you. Myself Dr. Krishna Kishore now with Deloitte & Touche New York, and also Asianet's US Correspondent. As Binu noted, very active in the Calicut Quiz scene from 1983-89 - won several contests partnering Praveen and Sarat Chandran for Guruvayorappan College; James Andrews and Karthikeyan for Devagiri. This note brings several nostalgic memories -- notable greats from the Calicut circuit Sarat Chandram, Nagesh, and us (Binu, Srini, Praveen, myself ...) able disciples

Good to see this group. I am a old time quiz participant/part-time quiz master (all india radio) from 1974 to 1987 from Calicut (kozhikode). If I recall correctly, I and Nagesh won the Junior University Quiz Competition (inter-zone) in 1979 representing Malabar Christian College. I competed against with some modest success against Nagesh when he moved to Devagiri and I moved to Calicut Medical College. In our time, Fazal Gafoor, Manjeri Sunderraj, Mackaden Master, etc. were quiz masters.
I am an alumni of St. Joseph's Boys High School and quiz captain of the school 1975-1978.
Ah! the good old days.

in salalah -1000 km south of muscat.called kerala in the gulf- lots of coconut palms and plantain trees.climate also similar.back in quizzing action after coming here.travelled all the way to muscat for the times of oman annual quiz with two of my friends and qualified for the finals- 6 teams out of 130.giri pickbrain was the qm.did not fare well in the finals,though.photos in times newspaper for 3 days-doctors from interiors qualifying for the first time.had a great time-just like 20 yrs back

Ya,lmost four and half decades back I was busying myself with quiz contests,at school and in college, universities. Beginning as a participant, then Quiz master. None were quizzical. I remember Dr. T Subramaniam, Dr. Venu IAS, Dr. M K Minister, now Minister, Dr. Fazal Gafoor, Educationist, M/s Hema now Retd. Justice all of them tested and encouraged by me as quiz master, they turned Quiz masters
Manjeri Sunder Raj, now Lawyer Supreme Court was four and half decades back quizzing around, but not quixotically. Initially as participant, prize winner at University, State levels. Then Quiz master encouraging young quizzers like Dr. Fazal Gafoor, Educat ionaist,Dr. T Subramniam, Dr. M K Muneer, now minister, Dr. V Venu, IAS, Ms. Hema, retd. Hicourt Judge so on turning them into quizzers. Kerala Quiz history deserves documentation.
